Sleep and Wellness

This presentation, which explains the importance of sleep and how it correlates with wellness, is led by Dr. Thomas Campbell and Dr. Bradley Karlin.

Dr. Campbell, MD, MPH is the Director of Clinician Wellness at AHN, as well as System Chairman of Emergency Services.  He took on his Wellness role in 2019, and put into place a carefully surveyed wellness program to address the clinician burnout at AHN.  Dr. Campbell is originally from Pittsburgh and has been at AHN (formally WPAHS) since 1989. Since 2010, he has served as the chairman of emergency medicine for all of AHN.

Dr. Karlin, PhD, ABPP, MBA currently serves as Vice President and Executive Medical Director of Behavioral Health for Highmark Health. He is also Adjunct Professor in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Previously, Dr. Karlin served in senior leadership roles working to transform mental health and dementia care in the Department of Veterans Affairs and other public and private health care systems. Dr. Karlin is an author of more than 100 publications and has received numerous national awards for his work to transform behavioral health care.
