The 7th Annual Immigrant and Refugee Health Conference will focus on the subject of immigrant and refugee maternal mental health in the antenatal and postnatal periods. Migrant and refugee pregnant women constitute a highly vulnerable group to mental disorders, due to their unique needs during this period. Intervention programs and services for refugee populations seldom provide adequate support for the mental health needs and challenges of refugee mothers. A systematic review and meta-analysis found that as many as one in three migrant women from low- and middle-income countries has symptoms of perinatal depression.
