Target Audience
This training is primarily directed to Primary Care Physicians, office staff and hospital staff.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation you should be able to:
- Describe the current state of breastfeeding in the US.
- Recognize misconceptions by health professionals that create barriers to breastfeeding.
- Develop office, hospital, and workplace policies to support breastfeeding.
- Provide anticipatory guidance to support mothers to successfully breastfeed.
- Assist women with breastfeeding problems, and help them utilize community resources.
BEVERLY ANN CURTIS, DNP, PPCNP-BC, IBCLC —
Beverly Ann Curtis is employed as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Keystone Pediatrics, located in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She has practiced in general pediatrics and in breastfeeding medicine for over 25 years. Dr. Curtis has also served on numerous local and national boards including Chair of the Board of Directors of the United States Breastfeeding Committee. She has worked in many clinical settings developing breastfeeding evidence-based systems of care for families and their infants.
