Caring through Complexity: Supporting Pregnancy and Recovery in People with SUD
90-minute educational presentation by board certified physician(in addiction medicine and internal medicine) focusing on the care of pregnant people with substance use disorder. The focus will be on providing the best care for this population and will include evidence-based practices such as harm reduction, motivational interviewing and recovery-oriented support.
This session will explore the intersection of perinatal care and substance use disorder(SUD), focusing on evidence-based, compassionate strategies to support pregnant and postpartum individuals in recovery. Facilitated by Dr. Michael Frost, a leader in integrated addiction care, the session will provide practical tools grounded in harm reduction, motivational interviewing and trauma-informed approaches. The impact of stigma will be examined in addition to opportunities for collaboration with local agencies to improve maternal and child health outcomes. Designed for maternal care providers, the session emphasizes, holistic equitable care delivery.
