Pregnancy and infant loss are among the most painful and challenging losses a family can face, and each member of the family is impacted differently. Emma™s Footprints contributes to the discussion of this delicate topic by providing a day-long Grief Symposium aimed at increasing the awareness, knowledge base, and skill level of both professionals and community members surrounding the issues of pregnancy and infant loss.
This symposium will provide an opportunity for professional care providers and community members to gather and share best practices for supporting families experiencing the grief of infant or pregnancy loss.
Learning Objectives
- Enhance knowledge and skill in recognizing and supporting families impacted by the grief of pregnancy and/or infant loss.
- Help participants distinguish between the grief experiences of children and adults.
- Discuss the changing landscape of support for pregnancy and infant loss and discuss principles of supporting grieving children and families.
- Identify problematic managerial practices and policies related to grief in the workplace and discuss potential remedies.
- Discuss training and policy changes to better serve and support bereaved employees.
- Identify tools to model healthy coping strategies for parents and caregivers of families experiencing pregnancy or infant loss.
- Explore ways to contribute to more grief-informed workplaces and communities.
