Learning Objectives
Headaches are a common problem, affecting up to 90% of the population at some point in their lives. Headaches can be a significant source of pain and disability, and can have a major impact on a person's quality of life. The diagnosis and treatment of headaches can be complex, and there is often a lack of coordination between different healthcare providers. As a result, many people with headaches do not receive the optimal care they need.
Review the pathophysiology and diagnosis of headache disorder in adults and apply to clinical practice and research. • Review, analyze, and discuss complex patient cases to improve quality and safety of patient care in management of headache in practice. • Develop multidisciplinary approaches to headache medicine including nonpharmacological treatments. • Devise strategies for diagnosing facial pain and other headache mimics • Promote continuing education for headache specialists and medical professionals outside the field of headache medicine.
