Fundamentals of Transplant and Cellular Therapy
The Fundamentals of Transplant and Cellular Therapy Course is a two-day introductory course intended for novice clinicians (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health care professionals) who practice in hematological-medical units, skilled nursing facilities, home care, hospice, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, and/or cellular transplant. This course may also be applicable to experienced oncology clinicians who require a basic review of cellular and bone marrow transplant diseases and care surrounding these patients.
Target Audience

This course may also be applicable to experienced oncology clinicians who require a basic review of cellular and bone marrow transplant diseases and care surrounding these patients.
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to: Summarize the Standards of Practice (SOP) associated with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and Allegheny Health Network (AHN).
Review the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).
Explain the donor selection process in transplantation.
Discuss the components of cell processing.
Describe the components, procedures, and care for the mobilization of stem cells and apheresis.
Differentiate the various types and indications of transplants. Identify the conditioning regimens and protocols used in stem cell transplantation.
Formulate a plan for symptom management of patients undergoing transplant.
Give examples of post-transplant complications, including the assessment and management of these complications. Verbalize the steps and management of cellular infusions.
Recognize physiological, psychosocial, financial, cultural, and spiritual concerns of patients undergoing transplant.
Explain chimeric antigen receptor therapy (CAR-T), including the management of adverse events.
Examine survivorship issues associated with patients undergoing transplant.
Outline standards of professional practice associated with the transplant process.
