Grief is a challenging and difficult-to-navigate life experience. This can be amplified when we are part of a group whose grief may not be recognized or acknowledged by others—when our grief is disenfranchised. Society often has unspoken rules that shape our beliefs about how grief should unfold, how long it should last, and the kind of support we are entitled to as we move through it.
