Join us as we raise awareness and increase understanding of the unique experiences of grief within the LGBTQIA+ community, highlighting specific challenges and resiliencies. Our aim is to give a voice to the diverse stories of LGBTQIA+ individuals dealing with loss, ensuring their experiences are acknowledged and validated.

 

Practical coping strategies will be presented, along with resources that can help LGBTQIA+ individuals navigate their grief and find resilience. We will also examine an aspect of intersectionality rarely considered, by exploring how grief intersects with other aspects of identity, such as race, gender, and socioeconomic status, offering a comprehensive view of the multifaceted nature of grief in the LGBTQIA+ community.

 

Objectives:

In this training, participants will:

  1. Increase their understanding and awareness of the unique experiences of grief within the LGBTQIA+ community.
  2. Take in the diverse stories of LGBTQIA+ individuals dealing with grief in order to cultivate empathy and compassion in supporting LGBTQIA+ friends, family members, and community members in their times of loss.
  3. Learn practical coping strategies and resources that can help LGBTQIA+ individuals navigate their grief and find resilience.
