A specific discussion Grand Rounds level talk will be given by an expert in the field, followed by 3 hours of research projects directed at knowledge gaps and performance initiatives in the department. Dr. Kristyn Brandi will be our keynote speaker. Her talk is entitled: Disparities in Abortion Care - Today and Tomorrow. Objectives of the talk are: 1. Understand the link between disparities in maternal morbidity/mortality and abortion care 2.Discuss how restrictive abortion laws disproportionately impact marginalized communities 3. Describe 3 actionable steps to minimize disparities within abortion care. The resident research projects have worked to evaluate system processes, perform initiatives and gaps in care at WPH. Examples include evaluation of OR times, blood salvage during peripartum hysterectomy, fertilization and pregnancy outcomes.
