Interweaving a personal narrative with research and insight from other experts, Jason Snyder will tell the story of how addiction has affected both his immediate and extended family. He will lead a discussion among expert panelists that will explore the evidence supporting genetics, environment, and mental health as underlying contributors to addiction throughout his family.

Recounting his two brothers’ deaths, his own recovery from addiction, and the impact of addiction on his extended family and subsequent generations, Jason and the panel will offer suggestions for using this information more broadly to understand the complexities of addiction and help participants come to terms with those living with addiction and, in many cases, dying from it.
