Details:  This session will provide a comprehensive overview of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). It will define what ECMO is and detail its various components, tracing its historical development from its inception to its current applications. Our presenters will also differentiate between Veno-Arterial (VA) and Veno-Venous (VV) ECMO, outlining the specific indications and contraindications for each type. Finally, the presenters will offer general guidelines for the care of patients undergoing ECMO and discuss common complications associated with the procedure.
